Description
The purpose of this document is to provide an easy-to-read summary of the HIPAA Security Standard Final Rule. All paragraphs of the rule are covered. This document should be used in conjunction with the Final Security Rule Published in the Federal Register and is not intended to convey legal advice.
Document Structure
Each paragraph of the rule is listed with a description and a summary, except for the sections containing the actual security standard. The security standard sections contain a description and a table with a summary of the standard and all Implementation Specifications associated with that standard. The Implementation Specification type (Required or Addressable) is also given in the table.
